The BirthPlace at St. Mary's

Mom and babyWhen it’s time for your family to expand, parents and other family members can be nervous as well as excited.

A variety of options are available, for everyone in the family, to prepare for the new baby's arrival.

Hospital Care

FBPptRoomWhen it is time for the baby, there are several options for care. The first is the "single room maternity" suite in The BirthPlace at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. The labor, delivery, recovery, postpartum recovery, baby care and family bonding will all happen in your private retreat.

Ample room is available to accommodate family and friends during your hospital stay and the latest in medical equipment is accessible, if needed. Included in the suite are a birthing bed, a rocking chair, a sleeping chair for overnight guests, a stereo, a VCR/DVD and an infant care station.

If you wish, a room in the postpartum area can be made available for you after birth, rather than staying in the birthing suite. This is a private, spacious room with accommodations of a day bed, private shower and bathroom, lounge chairs, flat screen TV, VCR/DVD and telephone.

The BirthPlace's intimate feel includes special touches like classes and activities for siblings, baby's keepsake footprints, a Maternity Keepsake book and a copy of the book, Baby You, Baby Me.

The hospital staff schedules our nursing shifts so that the same person cares for mother and baby throughout their stay, to provide additional comfort at an exhausting time.

For your nutritional needs, healthy snacks and drinks are available 24 hours a day. Three meals a day are prepared by the Food and Nutrition staff, with selections available to you from the room service menu. And as a special treat, all new parents are offered a complimentary, gourmet Stork Club dinner for two before leaving the hospital!

If the need should arise, there is a Level II Special Care Nursery for premature babies or for those needing specialized treatment or care. The nursing staff is well-trained and experienced in the care of newborns with special needs. Comprehensive education and support programs are available for the families of these special babies. If needed, transportation to a Level III Neonatal ICU unit in Tulsa or Oklahoma City are also available.

Continuing education is available online through The Parent Review
