St. Mary's Wound Care

The St. Mary's Wound Care is a group of professionals working together to bring a comprehensive approach to wound healing. Physicians and nurses have undergone special training and join other staff professionals to coordinate their special services.
Throughout the care, the primary physician is kept informed of the patient's progress and treatment plan. The appropriate therapy is determined by the unit physician and the certified wound care nurses, based on the clinical assessment, the patient's condition, the cost of the treatment and the environmental factors for the patient.
Therapeutic services enable the staff to offer a wide range of therapies for the treatment of wounds including: conventional wound care therapy; debridement; specialty dressings; education; hyperbaric oxygen therapy; compression therapy; growth factors and bio-engineered tissue products.
Types of wounds treated at the center include pressure ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, diabetic and arterial ulcers; problem surgical wounds; compromised skin grafts and flaps; trauma wounds and crush injuries; burns; acute traumatic arterial peripheral ischemia; gangrene; osteomyelitis; progressive necrotizing infections; actinomycrosis; soft tissue radionecrosis and osteoradionecrosis; and brown recluse spider bites.
Other conditions that can be treated at the St. Mary's Wound Care include smoke inhalation, carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression illness, cyanide poisoning and air or gas embolism.
The center is located on the first floor of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center across from the emergency room.
Scheduling is flexible offering both inpatient and outpatient services. Appointments are made in consideration of patients' work schedules and transportation needs during regular business hours with emergency treatments available after hours.
