Mission Statement

The mission of the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center’s Continuing Medical Education Program is to promote a culture of learning and change by serving as a forum for the exchange of new ideas and the evaluation of established modes of healthcare delivery.

The GOALS for the CME Program are:
  • To improve quality of care through presentations which focus on those evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic modalities which significantly impact the quality of care provided to our community and patient safety.
  • To provide CME programs that will assist the medical staff in meeting state licensure requirements for CME.
  • To provide a forum for discussion of issues affecting medical practice.

The SCOPE of our CME Program is:
  • The CME Program of St. Mary's will provide activities pertinent to members of the medical staff.
  • Specific educational content will be developed to fulfill needs determined through evaluation of:
  1. Annual survey of Medical Staff preferences.
  2. Input from the CME Committee.
  3. Program evaluations.
  4. Requests from the Performance Improvement Coordinating Council.
  5. Any other Medical Staff Committee that recognizes an educational need.
  6. Evaluation of CME activities will be undertaken with self-analysis and by objective studies in conjunction with the Performance Improvement Coordinating Council

Characteristics of our Target Audience:

Each CME activity has a specific audience by the defined objectives of the activity. At times, the subject matter may be applicable to the medical staff as a whole, and at other times, department or even specialty specific. The audiences will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center medical staff.
  • Other physicians from Garfield County and the surrounding area.
  • Allied health professionals.

Activities to include, but not limited to:
  • Grand rounds, tumor conferences and other courses with foundations in the medical literature research.

Expected Results
As a result of these educational activities, St. Mary’s CME program will review outcomes as a process to evaluate impact that Continuing Medical Education has on the physician, with the immediate goal of satisfying the learners’ needs and the ultimate goal of improving patient care.
