St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer

St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Rebecca Lewis, DO, as the new Chief Medical Officer.

“This is an excellent opportunity for me to give back to my healthcare community,” said Lewis. “I have always had an interest in medical policy and saw this as a chance to help form the policies and procedures that will help our community not only recover from the damage of COVID but to emerge from this situation in a system that continues to foster its culture of patient safety and embraces the medical community that provides that excellent patient care.”

Prior to joining St. Mary’s, Dr. Lewis practiced with the St. Mary’s Physician Associates (SMPA) group as a board-certified family physician working in clinic, hospital, and obstetrics settings since 2020. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City from 2012 to 2015 where she was Chief Resident from 2014 to 2015. Lewis received her medical degree from Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Parker, Colorado.

“I’ve had quite a bit of experience in physician leadership over the years including currently serving on the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association as the President-Elect and serving on the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians Board of Governors,” explained Lewis. “Since being with SMPA, I have chaired the Patient Safety Council. In my previous institution, I served as chair to several departments and the patient safety committee and served as the Vice Chief of Staff. Each of these opportunities have allowed me to see different facets and perspectives of medicine. I hope to be able to apply the lessons that I have learned from each of these experiences to my new role.”

“We are excited to welcome Dr. Lewis into her new role as Chief Medical Officer,” said Krista Roberts, Chief Executive Officer at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. “Her commitment and passion for high quality care and collaboration with team members will serve her well. She’s a highly respected member of the medical community and we look forward to working closely with her.”

Dr. Lewis is excited about her new role and plans to balance her responsibilities as a physician with her new administrative duties seamlessly. “Thankfully, I have an amazing team at St. Mary’s Family Physician Associates,” said Lewis. “Between my LPN, MA, front office staff and physician partners, I know that we will be able to effectively communicate during my time spent in administrative roles to continue to provide the level of care that our patients expect and deserve.”
