St. Mary's Launches New Interventional System

Installation of an innovative cardiovascular imaging system in the Cardiac Catheterization/Interventional Radiology suite at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center is now complete. The $1 million renovation project that began in April provides the hospital with industry-leading angiographic technology.

The Alphenix angiography system from Canon Medical Systems USA includes stent enhancement capabilities which provide clinicians with exceptionally sharp images.  These images will help guide the physician and staff during complex cardiovascular interventions. With crisp, clear images, clinicians may be able to use less intravenous contrast, making it safer for the patient. The system’s industry-leading dose optimization technologies also helps clinicians improve patient safety.

Close proximity of the new family consultation room will assure a timely report by the physician to the patient’s loved ones after the procedure is complete. This room, just a few steps away from the cardiovascular suite, will feature a refreshment area as well as a large television monitor. Images of the actual procedure will be shown by the physician to the patient’s support team promptly after the procedure is complete.

"We are excited to offer enhanced cardiac capabilities for our patients," says John Bartolozzi, MD, medical director of St. Mary's Cath Lab. "And, because we're among the first in the nation to have this technology, we'll be showcasing our Cardiac Catheterization/Interventional Radiology suite to other hospitals across the country."
